I've done exactly the same as you - bought spare cards to chop up. I'm fitting DLS R6A's which should need about 2.5" of spacing. They do a slimline version too.

Something cheap like the Infinity Reference components that are always going on ebay will fit easier as they are not very deep.

    Rob.
The speakers i ordered were kenwood something or others which i'd seen an they wern't very deep.

The company calls me up an says "were fresh outta them.. manager wants to know if you'd like to take up an offer on InPhase components".. he said "there waaaay better speakers" an all this cr*p... Should be for the price!

Well, they turned up an they are deep! Very deep!

So it messed my plans right up! Shame really... Still good fun ripping everything apart to get the cables in.

Two weeks i let them pi$$ around before going ape sh!t at them.. got it the next day then..

They're notorious for doing that. Make more money on the house brand than the name stuff. Offer cheap deals that never seem to be there and always suggest a 'better' bit of in phase stuff for the same money.

I got 6" infinities in the front doors, and matching 6x9's in a box behind the rear seats, 4ch Ratho Hamburg amp an it sounds spot on..!!

Jus to be rude, i also threw an 18" sub in the back as well, easily removed if i ever want to lug anything around. But to honest, if i hadn't already has the sub from a previous install i wouldn't bother..the 6x9 rock if you amp them up proper & with the enclosure there in, they have a good range too..

Don't even bother messing with the standard front speaker locations.

And why not? I replaced the front stock 15w with 120w Kenwoods in 10 minutes for £15. That`s worth the messing. Quite a simple job if you can use a screwdriver.
Be careful fitting within door-cards. There is not much room and you will catch muddy boot on the door as you get in and out. You`ll be OK if you wear pumps or have a size 6
              cheers,
              chris

                Hi all you ICE heads,
All i want to do is change the front speakers like for like... that a job for next weekend and i think ive gleaned all the infor i need from another thread. HOWEVER, took a look for the rear speakers and im dammed if all i can see are some grills on the rear side panels. I dont want to do major removal of panels but am i correct that this will be the case?
                thanks

Unfortunately that is correct Nigel. When removing the rear side panels you need to do it carefully as not to break the clips

you will need to remove the plastic panel above the tailgate window first to be able to get the side panels off

ive been looking at that bit for another reason, my rear window wash seems to be blocked and i thought the gubbings might be in there, but cant see how that comes off either, a nod in the right direction would be helpfull
                        thanks
