What about if you cut out the cig lighter and the ashtray ? Careful trimming could leave it stock looking and just relocate the cig lighter if you need it.

It's a Midland Alan 78 (I think!)

Just looked it up and it's an inch wider than mine. I think I'd try and open up the ashtray / cig lighter part to fit it. If you do you may have to take a grinder to some of the metal mounts for the giblets behing the dash (same depth as mine)

For an alternative how about a vertical install in the door pocket ? Maybe remove standard pocket and fab a new thing.

Maybe the best option is to sell your cb on and buy another that will squeeze into the truck..

I'm still amazed by the lack of storage in the surf... There's no little places to put stuff and the door pockets are so narrow as to be unusable..
