    Hello All,

I'm in the unfortunate postion of needing to buy a new car as my old SAAB 9000 finally gave up last week.

I've been looking into getting a Hilux Surf but apart from the relaibility problems with the 2.5td I was wandering if you could give me any pointers on what to look for and avoid in a surf.

I do a lot of miles by most peoples standards, on various grades of 'road' so I'm looking for something effectively bomb proof, or at least unlikely to develop a fault that I cant fix with a trolley jack and all my tools. I've heard a lot about these cars and Landcruusers too but any advice you can give me about what its like to live with one of these cars would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Jason

If you do a lot of miles, be sure you can live with 22-25mpg at best, or a couple more if you get an intercooled 3rd gen.

Beware of eBayists telling you they get 35mpg because its total balls.
