I think the lock up on the auto has a lot to answer for. If I tow using my brithers auto surf it kicks down on every hill running up to over 3000rpm.

With manual I can run lower rpm pulling the trailer. I can also trundel about at 1200 to 1500 rmp below the 55mph lock up speed of the auto.

My 2nd gen auto on 33s did about 18 to 20mpg full stop. Ask blackpoolsparks as he has been it's proud owner for the last 8months

You can bypass the lockup and fit a switch to engage lockup before the 55mph. I think Apache did this mod last year. He might have a write up hidding on here somewhere.

Now that would be handy to know, seeing as how most of the ######s driving round here wont go 40-50 on a sixty road that even my mother used to go along at 90 in the old days, anyone know the link. H

Thanks for the link. After reading though I'm baffled and wouldn't know where to start, if he comes up with a box I can plug in somewhere I'm in the market though. I'll keep checking the thread. H
