  • Have I missed something....

Have the rules on right of way suddenly changed?

On a dual carriageway this morning on way to work an some tool in a tiny Peugeot coming up the slip road, decided he was just gonna force his way onto the carriageway. I couldn't move over as there was a car in the outside lane but hey that didn't stop him. I ended up having to straddle the centre line or run over the top of him. The cheeky git then had the cheek to wave his arms at me before having to brake then overtook me an hurled aload of abuse at me. Quality.

How can I be lost when I've got no where to go

It makes you wonder why you bothered to brake. When I was driving a works van I gave them two choices stop or exchange details. and I ,m not that much more forgiving now in my own vehicles.
I've taken a vow of poverty To anoy me send money

I quite agree that he shouldn't have done what he did and am getting pretty fed up myself with the general lack of courtesy displayed by the average motorist.

However...I had something very similar happen to me recently where I was joining a dual carriageway.

There was a gap....I was in the Surf....the gap was maybe 10 car lengths....I indicated to pull into the traffic.... a car on the carriageway sped up to try to come alongside me (and he had to speed up a lot so it was very deliberate) to stop me entering the carriageway ahead of him.

I was indicating...used my mirrors....and moved out in front of him, I then gave him cheery wave and carried on my journey.

A similar situation to yours I feel, but from the other way.....common courtesy dictates that it should all be a bit of give and take.....and the guy who tried to "shut me out" had to give in the end.

the thing that annoys me when in the 4runner, when you are stuck being a silverhead for miles, them going at 40mph, first straight bit, you start to try and overtake and they accelerate to 60mph and beyond to try and stop you getting passed!
i have noticed this a lot happening a lot more these days,
and if you do manage to overtake them, they dramatically slow down after you have passed them

          pathetic and dangerous

Did you have the cloaking device switched on?

Understand what you are sayin - but I never tried to shut him out, if people can't judge their entry onto a dual carriageway then I am sorry - they shouldn't be on the road coz thats how accidents are caused. I always try to give way to slow moving vehicles an let buses etc out of junctions, but a boy racer in his zoomy lil car tryin to barge me out of the way takes the pss.

Had a beemer come right across me from the left on a roundabout on my way to work this morn. Next time I ain feckin braking!

Hit the horn but he completely blanked me. I feckin HATE that attitude! If he'd acknowledged me, I'd have done the same. Everyone makes the odd mistake. It's when the cocks think they're in the right, or just ignore you, thats when I wanna mow them down!

Lol - funny how they have all been blokes.

Can be scarey though - had a couple of boy racers actually reverse at me once - lost the plot as I was sticking to speed limit. I touched the brake as I hate tailgaters, he swerved round me an sped off - slammed the brakes on an actually reversed at me. I just braked an sat there - he stopped about an inch away , peeps comin the other way slowed, then they sped off.

Quite scarey until adrenalin took over. Think I was that freaked out I would have run over um to get away had they got out.

Had a similar thing today, was quietly pootling along in my little peugeot, trying to get on the dual carriageway, when some looonietic came up in a ###### great big red 4wd thingy and tried to push me off the road, luckily I managed to squeeze out.

Gave her a piece of my mind I can tell you.

No matter how bad it gets, if you're still alive it's just another bad day.
