no disrespect george but adding sharp sand to black gloss is the right way,ive been doing at work for 6 years and we are health and safety checked at work including our trucks every 6 months

Why dont ya just buy some non-slip stair tread stick-on's for the feet contact area and just paint the rest?
or some quarry tiles and real oak flooring? or just wash the soddin carpet?

just take the carpets out and paint the bottom of your shoes.
That way every car will have that just sanded feel underfoot that you're after.

Well George, somebody already told you the same as Im going to and you didnt listen, so you can now have the pleasure of not listening to me too.

Gritblast ( Calcium silicate ??) Its black, its coarse, its cheap, its readily available and its not elusive like the holy grail exotic volcanic basalt you are after.
Forget hammerite, get a black two part epoxy paint, slap it on, sprinke the grit on it while its wet and Robert is your mother or fathers brother. You could even get the gritblast for free Im sure. ( spent grit from an engineering works, fab shop)

Yep as Bogus said, it's the best/cheapest option, however if you get some spent silicate i'd wash it through a fine strainer/cloth as it'll prob have the shoit from whatever they blasted with it, bee full of dust etc, it's very hard stuff and sharp so dont be driveing with bare feet in there

hello, there's a few types of black substrate for aquaria/vivariums, the first is simple pea gravel that's given a special coating, but the size of it would probably make it unsuitable. Another is simply crushed glass, which is really fine but it'd work out really expensive to cover the whole floor in it.
There's another called fluorite, about a 5 gallon bucket will cover: 4 sq ft at a depth of 3" but that works out at about £40 for a 5 gallon bucket.
Or you can get simple black sand. All of it's quite expensive cause it's either got plant fertilisers mixed in, or it has to be inert etc.

Have a look at old casting sand its usualy a very dark brown/black. If you,ve got any foundries near you go and have a look .
If you fancy a drive theres a cove on the Isle of White( I,m buggered if I can remember its name) where there is all colours of sand, you might be able to get some black there.

well i found mi sand its not the blackest sand but it will do
its volcanic sand tho so it should be of and hard wereing
spent all day yestyerday looking for black sand and digging the mud out the back foot wells in the surf (yes dig)
there was yellow mud in the bottom ? must be jap
i can not see all the floor leeks
a good rub down and i can paint it
i get so pics posted so ya can see how it looks
it needs be have lots of grip coz i go in water a lot and mud
plus i like my to piont the truck down big drops and fall off em and ya need grip on ya feet to do so
