The beast is poorly

things quietened down and now the clonking is back again.It sounds like its coming from the trans box area.When i excellerate then i get this clonking noise and then the metal on metal sound sometimes when the brakes are applied and sometimes random.I think i need to get the wheels off and have a good look.I can't feel any play in the rear prop at all but maybe i just need to change the trans fluid as i never got round to changing it from when i boiled it pulling 3t upto Vince's place

Metal on metal when breaking I usually associated with worn out pads or shoes dependant if front or rear, if intermittent then I'd say they are not quite worn out yet but need changing real soon.

With the prop shafts check you haven't got a seized UJ, as against a worn out sloppy one, as this could force it out of alignment when rotating and be the source what you are hearing .

Changing AT fluid sounds like good idea too
