We have just had our Quarterly GAS BILL The strange thing is all our friends is the same price around £240 Whats going on ?

u with british gas? if so thats why....

go with Atlantic Electric and Gas Cheap as chips, they don't advertise and dont rip you. We pay £150 a qtr gas and £170 electric.

They're probably charging you on an estimate based on the size of your house. Assuming your friends live in similar sized houses, that's why.

Phone them and try and get them to change it to a reading-based charge - it will probably come down a long way, but they may charge you for the privilege of actually being billed for what you've used, not what they think you should have used. They like you to be in credit with them, so they over charge for the first few quarters, then reduce it till they get down towards even with you, then overcharge for a while again.

We managed to use 1/2 of what they guessed, so they half the bill after a year. Even though in rights we should get a free year, that money will sit there till we close our account and ask for it returned, or use more gas.
