  • tv rant!

ok just spent several hours trawling several diffrent shops, arrrrrrrggghhh
ok so bloke in currys was just plain funny i told him wot i wanted, and he then tried steering me to a 1500 quid one!!,we can do monthly terms sir!!,i don't want monthly poxy terms, also he said lcd panels are only made upto 40 inch, then stretched????so apparently we want plasma, infact a pioneer plasma,so he said,i stood looking at plasma and lcd,mrs couldnt see the diffrence, but to my eyes lcd is much much sharper, plasma is much like a normal tv pic, only downside i can see to lcd is the black on screen is a tiny bit blue,so lost my rag with him, then into comet........
omfg, how are you meant to tell what a picture on a tv is like if most are plugged into a normal aerial, and then justr random ones playing blu ray lol,had a heated moment with sales bloke in there, trying to tell me i wanted an lg,at which point i took him to their 2 grand sony, said look at the pic on this one(normal aerial),then took him to the bush at 700 quid(playing blu ray)explained that the bush looked a better pic!!!
    so home empty handed!

Ah yes, Currys. I saw the Samsung LCD TV I wanted on the Dixons website, and not being in the know I thought Currys and Dixons were the same company (well they are but Currys are highstreet sellers and Dixons are online).

So I went to Currys and asked them if they could pricematch the Dixons price. "No sir, I cant get anywhere near it", was the reply. He then added, "If you buy from Dixons then you can't bring it back here for repair", (durrrr)! .

In the end I gave up and bought the Samsung and the stand from Dixons for £278 cheaper than Currys could manage. Great TV, but sound was a bit wishy washy so I bought a matching Samsung surround system to beef it up!

That's cause they are thick and on commission, let's face it if they had an education they would not work week-ends ;-)

Personally I would not buy from either, the only place I would buy T.V. is our staff discount site, good products and 30% cheaper too ;-P
                Nissan Patrol for on-road, and a Land-Rover 110 shed for off-road :-)

think the main probs with the likes of currys or comet etc is they tend to show off the ones they want to sell, ie, make the most money on. so they'll be the ones with full 1080p blu ray playing. the ones with normal aeriels probably aren't so profitable for that at that time. i know its hard but if you can get your wanted list down,go to a good possibly independant retailer and they wil set up the 2 tvs in an identical manner for a true comparison.

also bear in mind the settings will not be set up right i the comet etc, just factory defaults, and this can make a huge difference to pick quality!

have you got a John Lewis locally? usually they're very helpful, and a good price to boot!

Yeah, well I suppose if we had access to your staff discount site at 30% cheaper we would buy from there too!

As I said bought mine from Dixons. Great T.V. quick delivery, competitive pricing and no problems. What more could you ask? (Apart fom another 30% off).

Bought a cracking 32" LCD LG for my parents. Personally I can't fault them for the money. (The TV's, not my parents!)
