I can remember from many years ago" Green Lanes" used to be shown on O.S.maps as R.U.P.P. (Road Used as Public Path) is it still the same or have they changed the designations?
The hikers used to moan like hell at us then so nothing has changed there.
I dont understand hiking.If I was meant to walk for miles surely I would have four legs like a horse. But I,ve only got two legs and the brains to ride the horse.

RUPPs are no longer legal to drive in most cases.

You need to be looking for 'Byways Open to All Traffic' (BOATs), and even then that doesn't neccesarily mean it's legal to drive it. Find the byways, then find your local council Rights of Way office to get details of any Traffic Restriction(?) Orders (TROs) which may be in force either temporarily or permanently. Most TROs effectively leave the byway open to most other users, but not motorised vehicles, though they can apply to ALL traffic.
