just read the post negative opinions .so whats the 4x4 you would have .not if you won the lottery but if you didn't already have a surf i have a isuzu bighorn and prefer the driving position and extra power of the 3.1 intercooled engine and the fact that the engine wont explode one day easier to get in and out of and is supposed to be good off road and built like a tank oh and its swb and black . i think i love my surf because its a toyota and this is a great forum but are they good enough reasons to own/keep my surf all in all is it really a good truck or do we love them because we own them and if it disappeared in a puf of smoke would we get another one .

I only bought mine cos it was the best looking 4x4 i could afford at the time, I originaly wanted a Disco, I looked at about 15 or so and they were all poo, they were either rusting away or scabbed to death ...
Then i seen the Surf, for the money i had, compared to the discos it was like a new car, so based on condition alone i bought it (oh and i was rather impressed with the 3 litre lump in it)
But i do still look at my mates who all drive discos and landys and get a bit jealous, the amount of toys and add on's they have is ridiculous, and the price aswell
I love the surf, Think shes brilliant, but ad sooner have either a Landcruiser or a 110 Landy in the same condition

if i can get another years motoring for £350 i ain't gonna say no, but as it stands right now, no i wouldn't get another surf. Don't get me wrong i honestly think they are a great truck, but there's others out there that do the same things just as well. On my shortlist at the moment in terms of 4x4s - trooper, nissan patrol, lc (obviously), shogun/pajero, defender, and (don't laugh) ssangyong/daewoo musso, realistically the only ones ot that list i can afford right now, and that'd be stretching myself, would be the patrol or musso
But, chances are my next car ain't gonna be a 4x4. If i could afford a 3rd gen, i might well think about it, but for now i'll settle for anything with 3 or more seats, that will tow reasonably well and i can stick a roof rack on. If it ain't a 4x4 it ain't the end of the world.
Ask me in 6 months time the answer might well be different.=========

Partly because i would just be making it look exactly the same as the one i have now..
I love my truck to bits but i wouldn't say no to an L200 Warrior...
Or a Hummer H2 or a Dodge ram!
