  • Power Packs, how big?

Has anybody invested in one of the jumpstarter power packs for the 3ltr diesel (3rd Gen)? If I leave the truck for a week, I have to jump start it, so I want to invest in a decent one without going O.T.T., I found a heavy duty one at C.P.C. for £85.00 + vat, but it says for 'vehicles upto 2.5 ltr'. I would have thought 85 sods was adequate to pay. The next one is a 'proffessional' one at £180.00 + vat, which must be able to start Concord at that price!
I appreciate that the cranking ampage has to be up there, I think the 85 quidder does about 1500 amps.
If anyone can point me in the direction of a better or cheaper one I'd be mucho gratuso!

If it's going flat after a week, the first thing you need is a new battery(s).

You can get a solar trickle charger to keep it topped up too.

before you invest in one, are your batteries ok. i left mine (isolated i admit) for over 3 months and it started fine.
      Non intercooled nothing.

u have battery probs, and with jump packs u get wot u pay for im afraid, and the other side to it is,if rarely used it will stop holding a charge,as sancho said, get a solar trickle charger,15 quid ish, puts out about 2amps,if really want a jump pack, the sealey professional isnt bad,i have a 2200 amp one called megaboost think my pack was 260 quid if i remember rightly

go to halfrauds and they will take a battery meter out to your truck and test both batteries.
If you have a problem with one, butthe other isnt too good either, then change both. A bu88ered one will draw the good one down, as will one that is OK but failing. They don't last forever.
and check that altenator, tight belts etc.

My technique is borrow some charge from the leisure battery in the trailer, I find 110 amp/hr is more than up to the job.

I find the solar trickle chargers only extend it for about another two weeks, and it's a faff because you can't use the lighter socket because its controlled by the ignition, and you can't start it with them connected because it can damage their regulators (or so it said on the instructions). So you have to remember to pop the bonnet and disconnect them before starting the truck.
            Gone from 4x4 to 1x2

              cheers chaps

Ta for the replies, not sure that I like them though, I will have the batteries checked out first, the place I go can check the alternator as well anyway! I'd put it down to the alarm dragging them down, I never really have a good prolonged run to charge them up, so assumed that was my problem!!
