I don't think the 2.4 is inherently unreliable. I just think that it requires more than routine maintenance to keep it ticking over. The vast majority of owners think that you service them once a year and they'll go forever. That is not the case with most cars.
Originally posted by adpsimpson View PostRoss, thanks for the heads up. Looks like another lovely rig - you must be gutted to be getting rid of it so soon. Yours and Hazzo's are both in North Yorkshire, so I might make space for a trip soon to see them.
Definitely agree about ebay - it's where I sold my Peugeot 106 after all But it certainly has a lot on offer if you don't mind doing more leg work. That 3.0 manual transmission one linked above still has me interested - waiting to hear back if it has air con (essential for where we're going, but it's not listed there).

Hey ross, would have thought a surf should be easier than a car to get in & out of cos you don't have to push your self up all the time when getting out. Are you sure your doc is'nt just a tree huger that wants all 4x4 banned or mybe he's a bland rover driver. If its not broke don't fix it.

My last car was a Saab 9-5 Aero estate and I had no problems with it but since driving the Surf I've been having a lot more back pain. Its not uncomfortable when seated at all, the driver's seat is very supportive. I think its just the getting in and out thats giving me grief. I was paralyzed from the waist down for a couple of days after the incident and I still get some sciatic pain from it, noticeably worse since I got the Surf. Its a damn shame because I love driving the thing.En Ferus Hostis. Be your own man. Follow nobody.
