I think I have just killed her....
Driving with a broken crank shaft pulley has just gotten to the truck....
She just plopped and stopped (about 700 yards from my house)....... I think that the crank shaft is actually broken....

I think the vibration of the pulley has cracked the shaft...
The started turns over but makes a winey noise...
I will have a look in the daylight but I fear that I killed her.....

Just been towed home by a 1.6 Vectra.....

It might be the other way round. On my 2.4 the pulley broke and when I repaired it I found there was a problem with the crank shaft. I think the vibration from the dodgy crank had probably caused the pulley to fail.

the crank shaft pullys on the surfs
have a rubber flange in the middle of the pully
so in fact the pullys is in tow bits with a rubber flang holding it togeather
when this happened to me
i was lucky it was just the pully that had fell apart
new ones from toyota are £110 and they come with that silly rubber in it

I have another pulley here that was going to be fitted this morning....

everything is still turning I have just found out so maybe the cambelt has kicked a few teeth or something, but even then it's gonna mean a full top end re-build....

So not sure will have to think about what to do today.....

You sure the harmonic balencer's not just parted company and jammed things up? mine actually fell off due to me forgetting to torque the bolt, one hell of a noise, it shattered the boss and chewed up the woodruff key, luckliy the crank shaft had very little damage except the key slot, some chemicle metal sorted it out but i done reccon it'll ever come off again,

That is a good point I will have a look at the 2mo...
I know the rubber was gone nearly completely that is why she was going in the garage as I got a pulley of Vagrant...
