  • RAF FootLocker

When I moved into my current house, there were a few items left behind that the previous owner did not want. Amongst these was a large wooden chest, the guy told me he had no idea where it had come from but believed it was an RAF footlocker from WWII.
I have had a look into it and it appears to be a Battle of Britain vintage footlocker beloning to a fighter pilot.
Does anyone have any idea how I would go about researching the owner of this or how much it is worth? It is rather large and I don't want it taking up loads of space in my garage, equally I don't want to bung it on ebay for a fiver if it is worth anything (either sentimentally to it's original owner or cash value)!! Anyone come accross this sort of thing before?
I did have a quick look on ebay and google and can't find any others anywhere?

Does it have a name or squadron number on/in it? if so you may be able to trace it through RAF archives etc, be worth a call to an RAF museum or some such, nice find, i've still got my dads letter of reccomendation from his RAF officer, give him a good set of refferences, he was a batman (no fricken jokes about robin either)
Too young to die and too old to give a toss

If you have any definitive information such as a service number or Name, DoB and service dates then the Records Office at Hayes should be able to help you

Life is too important to take seriously !
