Thank you Rod Leach, finally a forum member who can read and understand english I though that was perfectly clear in my first post and then even clearer in my second. I mean I could remove that knob and fit an apple with 2WD only carved into it couldnt I , even though an apple is not a Toyota part and it would make it 2WD only either, why couldnt the others understand ??

I understood you perfectly well, Alex. It was just that dildo Matt that was getting confused. He's a simpleton.
I did try posting a pic of the underside, imageshack was being a c0ck and I found I was staying late at work just to post an image of the underside of my truck....saaaadd.
Let me describe the underside.....
..diff on rear axle....driveshaft coming out of that going into large gearboxy thing under car near engine.
..driveshaft coming out of other side of large gearboxy thing (but offset to one side) goes up to diff on front axle.
I'll try to take a better pic tomorrow.
..and what is this smooth-bum club....is it for vehicles without that crass spare donut on the rear

If any of you have the little toyota hand book "3rd gen" it shows the two types of 4wd, multi-mode & non multi-mode, so the 3rd gens do have both types of transmission.
Been looking into this "weird surf" haha.
Found out that there are 2 different disc brake sizes, 289mm & 320mm but only the 289mm is on the very early 96 models, so this explains why you have the 15" alloys.
