  • DIY injector overhaul

Been looking on a few sites about diesel injectors and they seem to indicate that they can be diy refurbished, there is not a lot in the injector and if they are put back together in the same way they were taken to bits with all the shims in place and torqued up correctly, what is the problem, i know it would be hard to pressure test them at home, so this part would be out of the question but would they be worth a clean internally.

I also realize that cleaning is only one problem with them, warn seats, damaged nozzles to name a few, but cleaning could be eliminated. might work ?

I must point out at this stage that i have a spare set of injectors sitting waiting

Have a look here and see what you think: http://www.mercedessource.com/node/4802

Price and time wise it'd prob work out cheaper to simply renew them.
But if you have plenty of time on your hands, why not.

If you have a spare set then why not have a play about with it, as long as you have a backup plan then your ok "i think". Someone a bit more tech minded will be here soon im sure.
If its not broke don't fix it.

33 quid each to have Diesel Bob work his magic:

                          http://www.dieselbob.co.uk/orderinjectors_toyota.asp

If I were you, I'd be tempted to have a crack at them anyway. Bob would probably still take them in exchange once it all goes to hell.
