Here’s a thought if they’re unemployed and presumably nothing to do all day how come they live in a sh1t tip, with all that time on their hands you’d think their gardens would be immaculate or they would at least find time to cut the grass.

It never ceases to amazes me when you go into so called deprived areas that 9/10 it’s the occupants that cause the deprivation I.E. six kids, five dads, two dogs, no job, health issues, crime, and drugs I could go on.

I’m all for social welfare when its deserved, but I have long believed that if you are on unemployment benefit (or any other benefit) then you should be employed in the community doing things like picking up litter, which would earn points after so many points you would get your dole, you could even top it up by doing more work.

Oh yeah and the start time for this Community Employment would be 07:30 like the rest of us.

I agree with the above sentiments, but we really need to consider, as a society and as individuals, what we are doing to create these people in the first place.

These people would think they had died and gone to heaven if they had the opportunities that Karen Mathews and her clan have been given. Most of us here are paying tax to help keep these scum so that they can work the system and dodge doing an honest days work.

The fact that they live on a council estate is not the issue, it is their totally lazy attitude in everything they do that is the problem.
May be we should start an exchange program.

I think 'we' as a society make it too easy to DECIDE to not work.

I am 100% behind a welfare system that supports the people who NEED support - pensioners, disabled etc - people who genuinely cannot work. People who choose not to work should have to opt out of the benefits system. It is not there for them, and the people who genuinely need it, AND the tax payer both suffer as a result of their choice.

Indeed. But I don't understand why these people choose to live in squalid turmoil rather than opting for the more peaceful, less offensive alternative.

                  What, being dead?

Seriously though, they have zero self respect, hence no wish to attempt to support oneself. Therefore, they live in sh1t pits. They know it, but dont care. They know they are spongers, but dont care.

I dont know the answers, but I suspect part of it would be being GIVEN a job, paid a living wage, and told if they dont tow the line they are on their own and out of their house.

That’s one of the things that let me sleep at night, knowing that the squalor that you describe is the best their lives are going to be and as they get older it will only get worse, its their kids that I feel sorry for.

But why do they have zero self respect? I personally think they get it from their parents - as div3r says, it's the kids you feel sorry for. In all probability, Shannon would have turned into Karen, the same as they said Baby P would have eventually turned into another feral teenager.

I just wonder how you stop the cycle. It's pretty fascist to decide who is and isn't allowed to breed but either something needs to be done to stop this from continuing, or we need to learn to accept that a section of society is scum.

It IS pretty facist to suggest sections of society wont be allowed to breed.

I prefer my solution of getting them into work, whether they initially want to or not. Give them no option, and they'll have to. In time, they might begin to feel like an included part of society, paying their way, and reaping the benefits - higher self esteem etc.

Dunno about anyone else, but after a really hard day, and perhaps acheiving something at work, I enjoy my free time more.

                            Tried it. Doesn't work.

I don't think we're going down the toilet, it would just be nice to put a stop to all of this.

In some ways its the whole 'lack of natural selection' argument that is quite pertinent these days.

In this case, a lot of these types of people we are discussing have existed throughout history, but in times past would have a) not survived through being too thick to not blunder in front of a passing chariot b) been forced to do some kind of manual meaningless labour to earn a pittance and therefore not starve c) starve through not doing b) or d) be conscripted/press ganged or whatever into army/ship work etc. etc. life expectancies would have been shorter and the ability to have that many children just not viable.

Its great that we have a welfare system in place for those that deserve it as lots of the above historically would have applied to those who were disabled through birth or injury or disabled by status or culture i.e. women with children born out of wedlock.

Now many things like life expectancy are still affected - look at Karen Matthews shes early thirties and looks like shes in her 50’s no doubt due to bad food, booze and fags But you could argue that it’s the kids thing that makes the difference:
Previously people in the above circumstances may have had children, (often deliberately to try and have an insurance policy in terms of looking after them as they got older) but it would be limited to one or two that they could afford to feed and clothe so one or two of ye olde chavs begat one or two baby ye olde chavs and all was at least a plateau of sorts. Now, you get benefit per child so there’s an incentive to pop ‘em out with gay abandon to up the family income and size of house whereas those in better circumstances a) understand the meaning of contraception and ‘no we can’t we’re related’ b) wait til a bit later in life to have kids etc etc.

2 chavs – 7 children – do the maths, the chavs shall inherit the Earth.

Just would be nice to see more ways for people to have to have some meanigful inviovlvement in society. I work with a lot of charities and theres plently of volunteer work that they neeed doing that doesnt need any special skillsand would help society as a whole

                              Hmmmm..
Long post, with very little point to it, think I might be bored at work…
