  • Is this b0ll0ks or what

Had my 33's put on and asked to have em ballanced as well, when i went to pick em up they said they could'nt ballance em as the tyres were so large, smacks of the old flannel to me unless their machine was'nt big enough, what'd ya think? cobbelers or not cobbelers i was'nt in the mood to have an argument and i will have to get the tracking done so just figured i'll get it all done at a bigger tyre fitting outlet,

    they look ok tho

Just a load of b0ll0cks Ian.the local tyre place i go ballanced mine with no probs at all. When you get them balanced make sure they put the wieghts on the inside edge.It will pay to get the tracking checked anyway.

maybe true... the balancing machine has a guard on it, so it won't spin up unless you can close it over the wheel...

i would suggest ATS who do truck tyres... but i don't think truck tyres usually get balanced... never seen them being balanced!

thats a load of cobblers too Toby as the tyre fitters should have an assortment of shafts to fit all sizes of wheels.
p.s i'm not saying cobblers to you but to whoever told you that

Cheers guys, come to think of it i think Matt may have it, last time i got em ballanced with 31"'s on they had a time with em, only just got the gaurd closed and they were a bigger place than this one, these just happened to be £25 cheaper than others i tried, i got em to stick the weights on the inner rim last time Rich, no matter, when it's up and running i'll nip to ATS

yea thats it. when i got my truck done they actually balanced them, and as soon as i drove up to 45mph i couldnt hold the steering wheel!

i took it back and they told me why :/

they had to have a machine part delivered to them so they could do it. they had to bolt my wheel to their machine... and my tyres are 31s.
                Oh Nana, what's my name?

Cheers Andy, as i said i did'nt fancy giveing them an argument, being leigh parkers they'd have probabaly give me a kicking, and they were a dam sight cheaper for the change over,

and i've now got a near new bridgestone dueller at spare, 31x10x15

Not complete Bo11ox ... depends on the type of Vehicles the cater for !!!
My mate, a Mobile Heavy n Light Commercial Tyre Fitter of 35+ years, can if he's got the right domed centre clamp, he doesn't have much use for it (only when I ring him) but his other vans carry them anyways...

                      There's always a Payback .... But don't expect a warning !!!!

I bought my General Grabber 31” from a 4X4 specialist and their machine had no problem with balancing them
Mine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL

                          balancing / tracking

Have you tried your local Protyre or Micheldver depot, they are 4 x 4 fitting experts, might be worth giving them a ring

Got my 33" BF Goodridge MTs fitted and balanced at Nene Valley 4x4 in Northampton. They never had a problem and neither have I they drive perfect right up to 90mph (private road of course).

This place i went to is a small outfit, just started up by the looks of things (everythings new, even the floor paint) some local chancers haveing a go and good luck to em, think they were a little outclassed with a 4x4 wheel as Andy said probably only do normal cars and the boy racer brigade, the lad doing em could hardly pick em up, anyway they fitted em ok so no problem.
