  • Longer wires for winch solenoid

Winch now fitted (pics in a few days when I get it back) but the supplied wires for the solenoid pack (which is being fitted in the engine bay) are not long enough.
Granted I havent tried the company I got it from yet as its the weekend but does anyone know if anywhere does extended wires for winches? On a bit of a time scale as I am picking up my Surf on Wednesday and need the wires over to the mechanic before then ideally.

Sure I've seen somewhere that does them but can't remember where.

Having said that I would guess that jump lead cables would work but not sure I can get the large enough cable ends to fit? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...EOIBSA:GB:1123

If you extend the wires increase the cable size. You need these to suit the cable/bolt size - http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/156 - and the cable connectors should be crimped rather than just soldered. Crimp and then solder is even better. The crimping tools can cost a fortune for the larger sizes and hydraulic operated types are needed for the larger terminals.

        Here's one type.
