  • Steering Recall

    Hi all,
I am wondering about this recall I have been reading a lot about on here, perhaps someone could enlighten me, is it up to me to contact Toyota to find out if my Surf needs this work, or do they contact me?
I ask as I once had a Diahatsu Hi-Jet pick-up which was about 10 years old and one day a letter arrived from Diahatsu asking me to arrange a visit to the local dealers for a check on the front hubs of the little beast, (it did need the front hubs changing).
It seems that Diahatsu were tracing owners of the vehicles within a certain chassis number range via the DVLA and I was wondering if the same thing was happening in this instance.
Any help on this would be very welcome.
    Many thanks for reading.
    Regards to all, John.

      Here you go.

Toyota UK Tel 01737 367600, that will get you straight through , quote them your Vin/Chassis number and i had to tell them the recall notice number (SR60635) and they pass your details on to Toyota Japan, could take a couple of weeks, you will then get a letter off them and probably a call from your local Toyota dealer, (give them the name of the dealer that YOU want to use, when you ring up)

Just another bit of info. I called Toyota UK and asked about the recall. The nice fella on the other end told me to call a Mr Peter Jackson on 01737 367931 Tuesday,Wednesday or Thursday and speak to him as he is the imports expert. Not had a chance to call as yet but when I do I'll post the results.

                Hi all,
I have just been in touch with Toyota about the re-call, I phoned Mr Peter Jackson on 01737 367931 as suggested, he told me to phone Customer Relations on 01737 363633,
I have just done that and have given them the details they asked for, Mr Jackson also said to be sure to get a reference number from customer relations, this proves it has been logged and is being investigated.
I was told it can take anything between 6 and 8 weeks before I will receive a relpy.
Just thought I would update you on my experience, it might help someone else in the future

Yeah i know but am always slightly worried when it comes to things like this, if its something that they are gonna begrudge doing, are they gonna do it properly, are they gonna do anything out of spite ??? stuff like that

Your experiance depends on the Stealership... Some on here have had wash, free fuel, curtersy car, unbrella etc ect.

Me... I got to walk home from hudderfield (because my nominated dealer in halifax refused to do it), a half clean truck, a split ball joint cover on my BRAND NEW drop arm and a list of "urgent faults" that were not either urgent or faults........
