Create an account with the likes of Google/Yahoo, and they have all the submission tools and site tools available for submitting sitemaps, etc, and checking on the availabilty and parsability of your pages and such. Even if you don't submit the links manually, your pages will be indexed, (eventually), from any sites you place the link to the site upon.
Your site link in this thread will get noted and indexed accordingly by all the search engines, for example.
I aint got a clue what you just said but i know that for £50 i'll happily let someone else do what i aint got a clue how to do.

basically, you register your site with google so their "bots" know that it exists.

if you post a link to it here, then they'll (google) look at it when they search this site

the more relavant links you get posted all over the internet, then the higher your site will appear in searches.

you can use places like "linkmarket.com" but generally you get a load of crap links!... it could take years before you get anywhere near the top of listings without people using specific searches... e.g. davesplumbers.com would get it seen, but "plumber in south" may not get any results

building the site is the easy part... getting it seen is the hard work!!

I'll just mention, I wasn't meaning to sound short in that earlier post, btw.

It was more of a precautionary note I intended to convey. If you do use a company to get your site indexed, choose very carefully. Google have strict guidelines, (as most likely will the other major search engines), on what will classify as improper and impacting your ranking rather than helping it.

The simplest and main way to be indexed and well ranked is to get your site visible. Popping the link in your sig, for example. When a page is spidered, all links are found and followed, (site allowing). If you have the link in all of your forum sigs, it is being propogated that way, without detrimentally affecting anything. Your sites content is also rather important.

          Re

          or.....!

You could place "invisible" links in all the free space on your pages!

Like most of the other big players!
