    Right, Need some 'elp!

My Dads buisness needs a website now.

The other bloke in the business has had a quote that seems a bit steap.

I dont think the website is or needs to be very crazy.

Its a Refurbishment and maintenance company..

Became Hampshire county approved contractors t'other day so a website will help add a bit of spit an polish to it all.

Anyone here give me any pointers on making one?! Or point me in the direction of someone who can do it?!

    Ta!

Hey Rod, i just done my own at a cost of about £130 in total. i was told by a web designer that what i have achieved would cost about £300-£400. You can do it yourself for free with a web builder and then, when you like the way it looks, throw some magic beans in a pot, give it a shake and out comes something like this: http://www.apspropertyfix.co.uk/

Its the advertising that bumps the price up, if you want it to appear on a search engine result you need to get it submitted and that's £££££sss

Do a search on Web builders see what you think.

If you want something similar to this one but don't feel confident enough to try it give us a shout.

Ant, Something along those lines is pretty much spot on what the site would need to be.

Any ideas on fees for advertising on google etc?!

You'll pay £50 ish a year for submission to over 400 top search engines world wide, google being one of the guarenteed top ones.

Being indexed by search engines costs bugger all. Having a company do it for you costs money. What exactly they do, (and how much their specific practices are frowned upon), is anyones guess, however.

Create an account with the likes of Google/Yahoo, and they have all the submission tools and site tools available for submitting sitemaps, etc, and checking on the availabilty and parsability of your pages and such. Even if you don't submit the links manually, your pages will be indexed, (eventually), from any sites you place the link to the site upon.
Your site link in this thread will get noted and indexed accordingly by all the search engines, for example.
