Nearly had the surf done over

Came home late last night, around 9 ish, parked the surf on the drive at the side of the wifes car, with the back end facing the road, when i got in the house my wife said, in a very sweat voice, "my car boot is full, go empty it for me", so off i trot out the house, only to see a group of around 10 youths between 16 and 19 walking towards the back of the surf, so i hung back a bit (we have a cottage garden and it has quite high bushes) i positioned myself so they could not see me.
About 30 seconds went passed with a bit of looking around from the youths and one of them pipes up "lets open this one up and have a look" so with the adrenalin running i raised my little voice and asked "Would you like the F###ing keys to make life easier or would you like me to smash the window for you? with ya face" bare in mind I'm 5'7" and 10.5 stone (not exactly Rambo) to this i got no reply and they started to walk away, past me, so i said "don't be shy lads, come on have a look" to this one of them replied, " erm, erm, just wanted to look at the interior" whilst still walking away.
Watched them walk into the village, they never turned around once, after emptying the wifes car i had to go in and sit down to stop shaking , its amazing what you will do to protect your property, when the adrenalin starts to flow, I'd hate to think what the other 9 would have done once the first one knocked me out.

I'm the other way round, I'm 15 stone 5'7" & covered in tattoos, they all stay clear of me although I'm too unwell to do anything if they did start, I put a stop to the local burglaries about 12 years ago when I was still relatively fit & I think the reputation stuck so they stay out of my way now.

I don't think I'd like to tackle 10 youths in this day & age although you are right about protecting your property no matter what it's worth we all make a stand.

calm down lol,last aggro i had was group crossing the road and they played the im gonna stand in the midle of road game,soon changed their minds when i full beamed them with 100w headlights ans 4 spots on the roof and floored it lol

i like playing the chicken game with todays type of youth,the type that walks across the road all slow gangsta style knowing you are coming,then just peddle to the metal and they wake up realise they are not gonna win and move 'properly' like normal people.

on another serious note on the way up my estate tonight one of the local unevolved kids wearing black,no reflectors and no lights(it dark) trys ramraiding my front end as i come round the corner.im not sure who is more stupid the parents or the kids.

Good result Roy although it could have been different if they were coked up, mostly tho their a bunch of chancers and any confrontation is not what they want, last time i caught one on the garage roof i went mental at him, he dam near $hit himself, appoligised and even came back to wash off the dirty boot marks he made on me magnolia tyrilene wall i was shakeing after, prob fear,

Yes its certainly could have turned out differently, but its not something that crosses your mind at the time.

just install a nice camera in a position to see all the drive, then you have physical evidence if anything does happens. you will stand a greater chance of compensation if anything nasty happens. i think the law is far too soft on things like this.

Im the same as you mate "2 stone wet through", never had any trouble yet cos all the little theiving gits round here know i have guns in the house. I'd never use one on then "obviously" but i think its them knowing i have them that keeps them away, + the fact the rest of my family are phyco's. hehe

I used to install/service CCTV for a living but at night without IR lamps picture quality is to poor to be of any use and having to have it recording 24 hours a day is also a problem, i have 2 or 3 cameras in the shed its just being arsed to install them.
