At the time we didn't have allot of money but with the house prices out there going up so much we just had to take a chance and just go for it, we had see house prices rising nearly 30% in 9 months so couldn't afford to wait, the house itself isn't much but all the walls part from the front are about 500mm thick so structurally sound and thats all i needed in the House, the main reason was the land and the barns, the structure is there it just requires allot of work but with building work so cheap then that is not a problem.
