I've just got my son a 1.3 Nova and I want to stop him from trying to get 150mph out of it everytime he goes in it. Does anyone know how I can restrict the car without him knowing?.....
Many thanks.
try cutting about 8inches off fo his legs while he's in a deep sleep, that way he wont be able to push the accelorator to the boards, and thus reduce his speed!!
failing that cut a h.t.lead so it only runs on three and tell him 'thats how theyre supposed to be!!'

Lift the carpet under the accelerator pedal, then fit 2 or 3 layers of sound deadening mat under it and replace the carpet, won't get full travel on the pedal then.
Mind you the 1.3 Nova is known to be the second fastest car on the planet after the Astramax Diesel (preferably in white).

Only prob with trying to restrict the revs/power output is if he gets in a spot of bother , ie pulls out in front of someone by mistake he can not pull away to get clear .
Rev limiters are available or as Lucky says reduce the engine revs by padding carpet or slackening off the throttle cable .

Cheapest and easiest way is to hide his keys.
Then deny all knowledge of them and say he must have lost them, that way you are in the clear!

Easy, sell the nova, buy him a suzuki SJ413 lwb, and he cant go fast and he can go play with dad in the muck on the weekends.
Thats what I'm getting for my son when he gets his licence.

How about a Series 2 Landrover, It will be so often off the road with oil leaks and broken halfshafts, he won't be able to get in any trouble, plus they are undrivable at anything over about 35MPH anyway.

Just keep calling it a Metro... eventually he'll get so tired of it he'll swap it for something else!! (At least thats the theory I've been following with Tony's nova...
Tony is a grown up (apparently) but he'll still thrash his Nova over 100 when he's late for work...

Tell him to be careful Linda or he may snap the elastic band and he will want to borrow one out of the Suzuki .

Simple...
take the engine out and when he gets in the car ...push him down the road whilst bent down out of sight and making a noise.
