Remember Clarkson doing a full throttle start in a Ferrari and saying Ferrari wont like this, maybe this is the same for the GTR. Then I would ask why can it be done if it will damage the car???

If you thrash any car, you break it. End of conversation really.

It does sound a bit like they over-did it on the GT-R a bit trying to get more performance out of it, but that's what sells them. No-one ever bought a Nissan for it's class or looks.

I thought he said that about the F60 Enzo?!

Im not too far from a ferrari garage and apparently they make a fair few bob just doing clutches.

                thats the one rod !!

and i do believe your looking at about £3000 a go for a clutch...maybe much more.

the point is if you continually abuse the transmission on your car by doing massive starts (just like cletus bob roy, or whatever the inbreds name was) you are going to break something.you only need to make something less superior(ie to a price rather than a standard...see new landrovers and ford transits for prime examples) and something is going to give out

we need to stay with 2.4's, they .......ahem.......dont seem to suffer from launch related problems (aprt from causing oncoming traffic to skid whilst rapidly decelerating behind us)

i know but everyone is harping on about not using the switch i just think its nuts to openly advertise about the 0-60 etc, when it invalids the warrenty,id lay money nissan either end up removing the switch or uprating the gearbox

I reckon its more down to owner abuse, if u weigh the ratio up of cars sold and faults reported it probly highlights a very small minority of people

The type of people who cain the things 24/7,,, have u seen the way those yanks drive, street racing an that, bet u hes one of those 2fast2furious type dudes who goes racing of a night up and down the roads, Eating clutch butties for dinner and polishing of bowl after bowl of NOS haha

maybe slightly cheeky on nissans part but more down to owner abuse

Way to revive a thankfully dead thread guys!

Anyone with any kind of mechanical sympathy or engineering knowledge knows you cant have 1000BHP and plant it instantly through a drivetrain - like these muppets seem to want to do - without breaking something! Nissan know that, which is why they tell you not to or you'll invalidate your warranty!

F1 cars cost millions because they can. Chavs can only afford ten grand for a 2nd hand Nissan, and they cant.

                            Simple really innit?

Proper performance costs money because it demands engineering to the kind of tolerances production car money can only dream of.

Thats my last word on the subject. I'm right, so dont bother arguing or I will label you as a cheap nylon trackie wearing chav

It's my thread, I can revive it if I want to.

I'll leave on 'til 6pm then delete it so you won't have to look at it again, that OK?
