Nah, just read the thread and noticed the sites. You know I can't resist being anal. By god, I've tried, but I just can't.

What effect do the errors have on viewing? I'm only asking as the site seems to work fine, just wondered what these 61 errors mean......

They appear to display fine in general mainstream browsers, yes. However, the simple fact that the code isn't clean doesn't guarantee that they will always display correctly in any browser. It is merely that most browsers have a 'b@stardisation' mode where they interpret what they see and take a best guess at what it should be. You can't guarantee that will be anywhere near correct. Coding correctly takes away that level of interpretation, so that you know exactly how the site should display across all browsers, (exempting I.E).

In all honesty, (and this ain't intended as a dig at you or anything Toby), the purpose of hiring a professional in any trade is for the simple reason that they should know their trade from thread to needle and be able to achieve a perfectly finished product. Not for them to chuck something together which you could achieve yourself.

An arse I may be. If one offers a service however, one should provide perfection and nothing less. If you can't, you're in the wrong job. The standards are there for a very good reason.

That site of yours you linked to, the html has errors. All of the sites listed in your portfolio, (exempting one which has valid html code but the frame has errors), have html errors. This will give an idea of what I mean:

I know I'm harping on a gripe here, and will probably get accused again of being a sh1t as always, but if you're going to offer website design as part of your services, do you not think it might be worthwhile actually making sure that you create clean, valid code?
