  • Two cars, one driver, question about insurance?

I’m sure someone here will know...

I currently own just my Surf and have over 9 years NCB, protected comprehensive insurance cover.

I want to keep my Surf (providing it passes its MOT next month without too much expense) as it owes be nothing, is reliable and useful for lugging gear around... very heavy on fuel though!

But I’d also like another car and with a budget of around 5K I’d like something fun like a BMW Z3. I hear there are companies that will give you a quote that “mirrors” your existing NCB so insurance on a sports car of a similar insurance group should cost about the same as my Surf.

I am single so there would only be me driving and I can’t drive both at once. The combined value of both vehicles would be less than 7K.

Anybody able to offer some advice?

    Cheers, Paul
Mine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL

insurance is a rip off in this country.. why cant we be like america where insurance covers YOU not the car and you.
that way, if your mate drives to the pub and drinks, someone else can drive you all home... ...

i was wondering what would they say if i were to call an american insurers... i suppose they would just not do it.
              Oh Nana, what's my name?

I have my Surf insured with Adrian Flux and when I bought my Scooby, because it was a "normal" car, I checked with my regular broker first. He was £1000 dearer than Flux with the same insurance company! Flux gave me pretty much full ncb on the second car and I also saved by shifting the Surf onto a limited milage policy.
