Hi all,
I'm new to the site and I am hoping that I might be able to get some advice from more experienced Surfers than myself. I have found a nice looking 1991 Surf at auction and should be able to get it for about 1000 quid - guide was 1150 but it didn't sell last week. I have read that the heads can be cracked and am not keen to buy a dog so is there any way I can inspect the vehicle to be pretty sure that I am not setting myself up for a fall? I was going to look at the oil to see if it is milky and look at the coolant level but that is about as far as I got with my mechanical knowledge!
All advice about the mechanics or tips for buying at auction gratefully received.
