  • Calling MUDSURFER (the very pleased guy)

Hi, I am having trouble with my 4wd, sounds the same problem as Mudsurfer (glad you fixed it btw). What I would like now is a few pics to show me what this transfer box thingy is and all the other bits that might help sort it. So Muddy if you can, or anyone else I would be eternally grateful. Sorry, I am not very good at mechanics - great at fixing sheep tho.

Hi - I'll try and get under it tomorrow - depends when I finish at work and what time I get home.

My problem was down to a switch - if you look underneath, from the passenger side, you will be able to see the gearbox - big long thing that starts next to the engine, at the back of that, you will see a kind of rectangular box, about the size of two cigarette packs - just at the front of this you will see a cable going into a switch - this was the culpret for me - take the connector off and clean it first, and see if it makes any difference...

Can you write out the symptoms and I'll see if I can help..

Hi, thanks guys, I actually had the truck in an auto electricians but they couldn't fix it. It was stuck in 4wd for a while and now it has suddenly gone to 2wd and won't go back in 4wd. I don't hear any clicking or slidey noises when I press the button in. The garage said there was no vacuum and thought it might be a relay but that was a guess. I will have a wee look and try and do something with it tomorrow.
