John, don't apologise for ranting, I think you summed it up for a lot of people.

After being in the Army and working for the Army I know what conditions our guys are living in, even in our own country. My brother is currently in Afghanistan with the RAF, having to sleep in a make-do tent with his kevlar helmet and body armour on at all times and I think he would be happy to sleep in a car, but the treatment this guy got was disgusting. It's just a shame that people in our own country show very little or no support for our guys and girls doing what they do best for the security of us and our country.

All I can say is, find every website possible, where you can leave comments about this hotel and the company that owns it and just leave a nice comment and a link to the BBC article.

Oh.. and by the way... If I am not mistaken, you can email them directly from here

Firstly let me say I am not, and have not been a member of our armed forces.

Now let me say that this is disgusting, the soldiers are putting their lives on the line serving their country, the least they should expect is some respect in return.

Perhaps we should have an exchange for a month, let our brave folk spend the time being receptionists and let the jobsworths go bullet dodging

              Just sent this

I trust the receptionist and the reception manager will be de-mobbed for their disgusting attitude towards our fighting forces, I for one will never cross your threashold and I will do all in my power to ensure that others do likewise, I intend to find out if your hotel is part of a chain and if so will activly encourage people to boycott them.
I am not and have never been a member of the armed forces but at least recognise what they do

job not to use bad language!!

Absolutely agree! Totally disgusting attitude from the hotel.

I had the good fortune to work with our Army, Navy and Air Force at many many defence related trials over around 9 years, and a more professional, uncomplaining bunch of people you could not wish to meet.

Just another example of the many many things wrong with British society today. Makes me sick!

As an exservice man myself I think this stinks, they should now be visited by the health and safety ,inland revenue, public health, licencing authority, council busibodies and anyone else that can give em hell on a monthly basis.then send the management team on a team building beano to Afganistan, they might have a different attitude after dodging real bullets rather than paintballs.no one in my family will ever cross their threshold and I`ll do my dambedest to make sure no friends or colleagues do either.

Yes, this is a bl**dy disgrace, these boys should be welcomed with open arms at any establishment in this country, and, I include all service personnel, not only the army. In fact instead of some pox ridden, toffee nosed receptionist turning them away the showing of a service personnel ID should guarantee them any available room and at a discounted rate.

Bombard these clowns with complaints, they deserve them. H

Despite some of the failings of the USA, this is exactly what happens out there. It also gets them discounts at many of their big stores such as Best Buy.

This just does not surprise me, and as a patriotic Englishman it makes me sad to say it's about what I would expect in this country. The way our fighting boys are treated when in theatre and when they come home, starts at the top, and the so called leaders of our country should hang their heads in shame over the way all of our fighting forces are being treated. You can't expect anyone else to treat them differently, they are only following the example set by those at the top
It's only the hardworking, tax paying, country defending law abiding people that are made to feel like second class citizens in OUR OWN country - that why I've had enough and am considering leaving

Now I am gonna have a bad day!!!!

                            Cheers, Nick

                              I'm with you Nick !

Unfortunately I'm over 50 and my kids are only 15 and have an education to complete ....

I did my 22 in the Regular Army and I'm just thankful that I didn't get too much of this sort of crap - then again, for the majority of my service I wasn't allowed to wear uniform in public cos of the appeasement policies of our Lords and Masters !

Life is too important to take seriously !
