  • Question regarding tow bar electrics

    Just a quick question regarding tow bar electrics, as some may know I picked up a second hand tow bar and electrics. Do I really have to use the indicator buzzer/sensor thing that came with the wiring???
    I have found wiring details:
    Yellow = LH Indicator
    Blue = Rear Fog
    White = Earth
    Green = RH Indicator
    Brown = RH side light
    Red = Stop lights
    Black = LH side light

    The above is easy enough but the buzzer / sensor had a few spare wires and no wiring diagram.... so I’d rather not use it.

    Cheers, Paul
    Mine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL

      Hi paul, what colour wires are on the buzzer, and i will be able to tell you which goes where. To be honest you need to fit a buzzer or visual indicator by law now.
      ( But who will check if you have it or not i dont know)

      There are two types of buzzer:

      1: yellow goes to the yellow of the socket
      Green goes to the green of the socket
      Yellow with a white stripe goes to the left indicator
      Green with a white stripe goes to the right indicator
      White goes to earth

      2: As above with yellow and green
      Orange goes to Left indicator
      Grey goes to right indicator
      Black or white to earth

        The wires are:
        grey, green, black, yellow, orange (all single colours).

        As I say, I'd rather not use the buzzer if possible. The tow bar is an original so who would know when it was fitted?

              Oh, I should have said that I intend to tow a single motorcycle trailer so anyone following will have a clear view of the surf’s rear lights/indicators.

              Whenever I’ve used trailers in the past I have always gone around and checked that all the trailer lights are working correctly.

                    Unless Mr Plod decides to check, as has happened to me a couple of times. It's the law now and there's a fine and (I think) 3 points if it's not fitted.
                    Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's
