Really? We'd never have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it.

Mind you, I can't exactly preach on the subject can I.

as a relative noob ill stick up for us..

Its easy to say use the search, i always do, but 9 times out of 10 i end up digressing off topic and reading up on somthing totally different, so i can understand why its easy to be lazy and just post a topic.

A few simple posts highlighting parts needed for a body lift etc wouldn't be too much work. I will document any works i do on the surf (planning a lift session soon..ish), if others do the same you end up with an invaluable resource.

A lot of the work for this actually already exists right here on this forum, tech write ups, some with pics etc. We would need to collate all of this info but first find the info that would be really useful to noobs that is spread far and wide across our forum.

What we need is a way of searching for all the info that is already out there, something like a wee button we could press and like magic the info would appear.

The only drawback is that it is a time consuming process, to copy the images, redo the post layout and such in a new thread, etc. That's one of the main reasons I still ain't got around to doing much with the articles sections over there. It just needs so much time once you make a start.

I personally think that all this is part of the "charm" of this forum. The Search facility is fine but its making the post and getting a friendly answer that brings people in and makes them feel that they belong. There is of course nothing wrong in politely answering a question and then politely informing someone of how useful the search facility can be. Sometimes todays newbie question gives yesterdays newbie an opportunity to answer and display his new found knowledge.
I personally remain unimpressed by those responses that consist of shouting USE THE SEARCH BUTTON. In essence I dont beleive that a sticky for newbies is either necessary or good. How do you start it ??

Item 1- OK new guy, dont dare post or ask a question untill youve read everything RIGHT.

Item 2- If you dare pose a question or put something that has been posted before ( and we dont care how long ago) you will be shouted at so watch it OK.

Whoa! You need to change your user name to Mr. Angry mate! It was actually meant as a suggestion to help new members, not to pillory them.

If you read many of my posts you will find that I try to be as helpful as possible to anyone who asks a question. I was a newbie myself once, I used the search engine and I asked a few newbie questions when the information I found didn't quite cover what I was looking for.

Perhaps next time you will try to see the positive point of a post before letting rip with both barrels!

                      I'm with Bogus on this.

The forum belongs to the members so, post what you like as long as it's not offensive.

Answer what you like as long as it's not offensive.

Wind up others as often as you like, offensive usually works and chuckle when they bite.

But most of all enjoy, life is too short for anything else.

Well I can only apologise if I offended you, but I was simply expressing my opinion, there was nothing in my post that was directed at you personally, and nothing that was intended to offend or belittle you. I was not then and am not now the slightest bit angry. ( in fact Im currently having a little chuckle )The positive side of your post was and is quite clear to me, I merely wanted to display another side, to give something to the debate and Im sorry that you seem to see it as some sort of personal slight. Maybe I do need to pay attention to your last sentence, but maybe you do too.
