  • Found Workshop Manual..in English

i have been looking on the Austrailian Surf Forum trying to find some leads to why or what is the possible cause for the overheating that cracked my head, and on one of the threads i came across this -: shop.importdriver.com.au/store/products/item177.inetstore

    anyway, they stock a workshop manual covering Hilux/4runner 1979 - 1997
LN DIESEL ENGINED MODELS, a valuable resource for 2.4td Surf owners..
Blah Blah blah.. any including the airfreight, delivery door to door in 48hrs....
    Aus$102.00 = GBP41.80
Yeah i know its a lot, but it could or should save me loads... now call me
    we wil see

I got a copy of that Max Ellery a few mths ago and reckon it was written in a time when different size fonts and headings and been clear about things were unheard of. They must have written it all in one go at about 2am on a Saturday night and sent it straight to print.
Stopping the ranting you do find some good stuff in there but its hard to find

The HAYNES manual is useful but does not cover the turbo etc its a bit vague on other equipment as well. only really useful for the running gear brakes etc its not the best manual HAYNES have produced

                      Haynes manuals

IMHO i think more recent publications of haynes manuals are sh*t. I have purchased them for my last 2 cars and taken them back to the shop the following day for a refund because they did not contain the info i wanted about the cars in question.
On another forum i subscribe to for my motorbike(i do like to go fast sometimes) someone had found a downloadable file containing the manufacturers microfiche listings for parts and assemblies, has anyone tried to find the same for the surf???????
If it aint broke...........give it some more abuse!!!!!!!!
I gave it some abuse.................and it broke!!!!!!!

heres their chapter on the turbo, its a 3 page section (can I do this? ah well, we all love Max Ellery manuals)

They have a lot of technical specs throughout the manual covering things like
                          • (L, 2L & 2L-T 50's & 60's Series)
                          • (2L & 3L 80's Series on)
                          • 80's, 90's, 10's 11's 12's & 13's Series
                          • Lights and Vehicle Body components wiring diagram 1990 on 4 Runner 105 LN and 130 VZN Series
and that all confuses the bad air outta me

I have just ordered one off Amazon, Sorted, cost me 45 quid though, as i found a cheap multi region dvd player for the Mother in Law..
should get me some brownie points

Got one, its a OK manual, good info but is seems like they threw all the pages up in the air, then bound the book together.

US Chilterns and Haynes manuals are far better, but don't cover the diesel stuff. Best books are the Toyota factory manuals, but expensive to buy.
