Fave cars - and why

Group B was part of my formative years too

1) Gp B Stratos. The noise they made in the forest was spine tingling - saw some on a stage at Chatsworth earlier this year and they're still brilliant.
2) Gp B Audi Quattro Sport. Only car I've ever seen lift it's front wheels off the ground under acceleration. Earlier today I was looking at some photos I took on the 1000 Lakes and they look like a space ship on wheels.
3) Sierra 4x4 (2.8). Best car I ever owned until it sheared it's gearbox mainshaft.
4) Escort RS Turbo (one of the first homologation special ones). Scariest car I've ever owned but it was forgiving enough not to kill me - even though it tried a couple of times.
5) I'm still waiting

TVR Tuscan (for the smashing lines and paint)
Renault Alpina (because anyone who owns one just won't sell it)

Nothing sounds like a BDA. Even the thought of what they sound like makes my spine tingle... Like four guys banging lump hammers really fast on an anvil.

1, Obviously a Surf (my surf) would be first choice. We've become like one of those married couples that make you think "why are they together?"

2, Agree with Nero on this, would love to have a Lotus Carlton. My dad worked at a Vauxhall dealer when they came out (was about 8) and one of the mechanics took us out on a test run. Travelling along at 90 on the bypass before some rep in his BMW tried to race, so the mechanic dropped the Lotus into 3rd, gave a little wheelspin and left the BMW for dust. Felt like I was being pushed into the seat with the acceleration. One owner chipped his to do just over 200mph!

3, 1958 Plymouth Fury, like the one in the film Christine. Mainly because I think it looks great.

4, Lada Riva (stop laughing at the back) I'd like one of these because without much effort you can fit a Fiat 131 SuperMirafiori engine straight in, giving you 113bhp. And if you had the extra cash then a trip to Lotus for some serious tuning will give 180bhp, as done by Top Gear in 2002.

5, Guess I'm going to need to pick a normal car eventually, so I'm going to settle on my £100 mondeo. Just get the power steering pump replaced, and maybe a tune up.
