  • Fave cars - and why

OK folks, as there's some of you who think Impreza's are cool (titter), nows your chance.

List your top five favorite cars of all time. Cars you'd aspire to own. Its a difficult ask, there's hundreds if think about it, so just the top five.

For me, it's pretty much all GpB based, mainly because I LOVED GpB, and can remember many a long night stood freezing my balls off on a welsh mountainside waiting to be dazzled into blindness and deafened as something flew past at 100mph+ showering me with mud and gravel.

    1) Audi SWB UrQuattro, as driven by Mikkola, Mouton etc, because it broke the mould, and every other competitors heart.
    2) Ford RS200, because it was mental! Close to the limits of what the drivers could handle.
    3) Lancia Stratos - see above
    4) Lancia 037 (Montecarlo). For taking such a beautiful coupe and turning it into a complete animal. Sadly took lives, but hey, motorsport is dangerous.
    5) A modern car - Alfa Brera. Breathtakingly beautiful, supercar looks for Mondeo money. Who cares that it might not work once a week. Its worth it for those sunny days when you just sit on the lawn with a beer and stare at it.

1 Buggatti Veron : it may never be repeated.
2 Shellby Mustang 1967 : year I was born and almost as beautiful as the GT40
3 Bowler Nemesis : eh why not
4 Lamborghini Murcielago: because it's stunning and has 640bhp v12
5 Ford GT40: the best looking car on the planet.

            1. Mercedes G55 AMG - sorry, but what's not to like
            2. Landrover Defender 90/110 - again sorry, but a piece of british motoring genius, if they didn't hold their 2nd hand value so well i'd have had one over the surf
            3. Volvo V70 T5

4 & 5 still to be decided, but hey i'm still young, i don't like small cars, if i was going to buy something smaller now it would be a citroen c4, but i wouldn't say i exactly aspire to own it.

almost forgot - lotus carlton if there's any still alive.

                        1. my favourite car of all time is one i have owned, a westfeild with a 2.1 pinto in it...the most fun i have ever had with me clothes on.

                        2. 1967 mercury cougar, just a standard 5.0 litre v8 but it was fun, and it was dead good looking.

                        3. fiesta rs turbo........just....STUPID (its still in the family)

                        4. lexus (dont know the model, twas a v8). i drove one to croatia with 3 other drivers,we were checking out hotels in porec.this car did an indicated 140-150 till we had to pull in for fuel, and the journey from koln to munchen, which usually takes about 6-7 hours we did in three.that car was awesome (and it wasn't ours and someone else paid for the fuel)

5.my present surf.im very attached to it,cant imagine getting rid of it,it has been a superb vehicle for me.

it was a bl00dy good machine vince. we were 4 up and it was about 1 am. the other three were fast asleep at koln and my mate who i crewed with said to give him a shout in a couple of hours and he would have a go. i drove down to munchen, across the austrian border at neiderbreitanbach right to the end of the inn valley, past innsbruck,up through the pass to vipitino and down towards venice and along to trieste.i stopped twice for fuel in germany as it used a whole tank in about an hour and a half,i stopped for fuel in vipitino ,just over the border in italy and again at trieste. i seem to remember it used 5 tanks in total (1 way) which was about 100 ish gallons , over 1400 odd miles,i think it actually returned about 15 ish to the gallon, and over the whole journey including the return, was thrashed, flat out all the way, just going normally through austria and slovenia....it was an AWESOME car
