    Right,

I need some advice... When the rear axle is all but stripped to get the diff out for the new gears it would make total sense to fit new wheel bearings...

But i have an issue. It adds £60 to the bill from roughtrax. I dont really wanna be splashing out on something that wont need doing

(the pinion bearings better be proper messed up when i pull them )

But anyway, I know im a tw*t for leaving them... but would it really hurt to just repack them with greese an refit the current ones? an not buy any extra bits.

Its getting expensive this regearing thing...

I'd say the answer is in the question personally, but if it comes down to lack of funds repacking should be ok just make sure no crud has got into them whilst they have been taken out

I know i should replace them... but then the roughtrax bill almost tops £200. I didn't really want to fork out a bomb on doing this. Just seems there is a hell of a lot i overlooked.

if it aint broke dont mess with it,
ive had several diffs in the rear of my surf in the last 18 months,
never bothered fitting new bearings as they sound,
        well fine,
because they dont make any noise,
so why bother trying to fix something that just isnt broke,
        i wouldnt bother mate,
        more trouble than its worth,
could end up with a nightmare job on your hands,

Its like selective hearing... but in a reading way!
Basically i just underestimated what needs to be done!

It was like an after thought when i asked around about 'consumables' within the diff. Then all of sudden im like ..."feeeeck"

on yotatech it all sounds so easy "yeah duuude, change your r&p an your like rockin out duuuude"

Then all ive had from the local garges is a look of "you complete f..... " an a sharp intake of breath!

So now ive got to open my wallet again im gettin kinda used to the £350 a diff cost im looking at. But much more then that an im going to go insane!

Not even thinking about the front diff yet!!
