Had the same probs mate. ATF cooler is without doubt a good idea if towing. Just fitted a Roughtrax rad a couple of months ago after a few leaks appeared in the top od the old rad, and have had no overheating problems when towing since. Also lifted the back edge of the bonnet with aid of a few washers as packing to help the heat escape from the engine bay.

Roughtrax rad is much better quality, as good as Toyota. Mine is now cooling my 4.0 V8 no problem.

Think I will let the mechanic look at it Thursday, with the history of the previous leak, it will prob be a new radiator.

Just checked Milners & Roughtraxs sites, Any ideas why Milners are £100+ cheaper than Roughtraxs for a new rad, is one and genuine and one not?

Anyone heard from Mudsurfer recently? wondered if he could help with his local knowledge.

          Thanks,

          mark.
I'm here - you don't need to be local, there'll be no trouble here - I'd have the RoughTrax one any day - Milner's rads have had some bad press.....

Thanks for the response Mudsurfer: Thought you had dissappeared!!!

Problem being I can't afford the Roughtrax Rad at the moment I am on a really tight budget at the moment, still trying to catch up with my finances etc after my illness, I was wondering if there was anywhere local that could re-condition or repair the existing Rad, thought that might be a cheaper option than purchasing an inferior product, have since found another company on the net that have 1 in stock for £120 inc a 12 month guarantee.

Think I will wait for for the diagnosis from the garage tomorrow and see what needs doing, Do you know anyone local that will repair or re-condition a rad?

            Thanks

            Mark.

If it needs recoring, (which it most likely may after your radweld trick, unless you're lucky), you won't save much over getting one new. You've done a stupid trick once by trying to save a few bob, so don't make the same mistake again. There is a very good reason why it's called experience, you know.

Just received another quote from a company in Manchester, Heavy duty rad, ideal for towing, £160 inc Vat & delivery; 12 month no quibble guarantee.

Sounds too good to be true?
