the problem is matt the background was black with white font and red boxes around the pics.all thats gone and i dont know where.

Your styling says the body background is white. How were you checking it? Via the inbuilt preview function of an editor or via your web browser?

i didnt check it,i used a free web builder to build the site and kept on saving and previewing,until i was happy with the results,then i handed it to someone else to make live.in fact the more i look at it the more i see thats not right or how i had saved it.

I'd be giving them an earbashing for arsing about with it then, personally. If you like, e-mail it over and I can give it a quick check through to make sure everything should be fine for just uploading it afresh. Sounds like your mate/designer, (whatever his designation), has put his own artistic flair to work on that then.
