  • need a bit of help

hi all a mate has got a SHOGUN 3.0l v6 gdi petrol 51 plate with an auto box.

i had a look at it as the dealer told him he needs a decoke and it will cost him £3000 . yer thats what i thought .

anyway the problem is , it drives ok if you dont push it , but if you floor
it it attempts to drop down a gear but then shudders ( feels the same as if you hit a rev limiter) and i dont think it knows what gear to select .

if you knock it into neutral the engine revs fine i think it is a box fault .
    any help .
and yer i told him to bin it but he will not listen to me .

    thanks.

take the sump down and make sure the filter screen is clear of debris.or it could be the torque convertor.

If you have a local place that repairs/services auto boxes, ask them to take a peek. They are usually quite reasonable for general work.
