These guys claim to have made a breakthrou in generating hydrogen.
Show me one that doesn't make that claim. The only way it would be viable is using some power source which itself isn't directly capable of being the fuel whilst being cheap and low emission. Unless you happen to have a spare nuclear reactor or two knocking about, then it must be using some fossil based technology, thereby negating the supposed environmental benefits. Pulling power from the grid constitues negation too.
If you want a hydrogen gen, get some water, washing soda and carbon rod and have a ball. Bog standard battery charger is a fine PSU. You can derust any bits whilst you're at it.

HEHE,
You can always be relied on Matt, flipping marvellous, indeed, ahem, I'll get me coat...........
I saw that on the news, be nice if you could just chuck tapwater in the tank but i dont think so, that unit they had does claim to produce enough for about 25 miles and i bet it cost a fortune, dont think i'd live long enough for it to pay for itself,
Saw the news article, and they predicted to recoup the £3000 to convert the vehicle you would have to do 50,000 miles before it pays for itself
At 25 miles per fill, I doubt any high mileage users would be using it, so, in a nutshell, it's sod all use other than serving as an 'I've got..' status indicator. Should do quite well with sales to the middle classes, by that token.
