Has anyone found out exactly why the 2.4s overheat, but the rest don't?

If so, what's the main failure mode?
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

a design flaw in the cylinder head, symptons of failure include, but aree not limited to, coolant system pressurising, temp gauge dancing in the red and a nasty case of wallet rape to put it all right
    Non intercooled nothing.

No, it's too shiny. And I'd lose it if Alan and Chris were there too...

That's good, I have none of those symptoms. Mine just goes a bit more than half way, then when I slow down or stop for a while it creeps back to normal. I reckon my truck may just have a very dirty cooling system?

The waterways are to close to the Heads surface near the valves, This is a weak spot & the heat & pressure causes the cracks.

So it doesn't matter if the truck overheats initially? You're saying the head will crack without the engine overheating because the head is too thin around the valves?

Surely if that was the case and every head would eventually fail for no reason, Toyota would have to recall?

The HEADS that STEVO supplies are a tad thicker as we've measured the thickness. There must be more meat on the heads face.
Remember we drive SURFS a lot harder than the Japs do.

yep,you dont need to have an overheat to have a knackered head,....pushing coolant out into the expansion bottle would be a symptom

why not get a "sniff" done on the coolant

If you have been off roading in mud make sure that the rad is clear

3 Hours with the hose should just about do it.

Don't have anything like that either, my coolant is full of RadWeld, probably needs a good commercial flush.

Where would I go to have someone sniff me coolant?

I have been, but it was doing this overheating thing before I went off road.

seriously a damm good flush, getting all the radweld out,a flush out of the heater matrix and a new stat and cap, should see you ok
