any i.t. types out there able to advise, firefox wants to upgrade to latest update so i accepted then i couldnt load any web pages
I.E. was ok but firefox not so went for a restore all ok till update then same again
can i stop updates or are they automatic?

Updates can be turned off fairly easily for firefox

Click on the TOOLS tab and select OPTIONS from the drop down list.

In the window that opens select ADVANCED and then the UPDATE tab.

You can then select the options you want firefox to check for and install

i had a lot of probs when it upgraded itself, found that if i totally uninstalled ver 2.0.14 or whatever, then installd a fresh version of 3 it was fine, some of the add ons caused me probs as well, mainly the skin noia 2 extreme

Exactly the same happened to me. I respect the 'turn off updates' comment, but sometimes you may get one that really do need. Anyway, to cure the problem completely uninstall Firefox then using IE go to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/product...win&lang=en-GB save the file and install it. I think the problem lyes with the upgrade coming from mozilla.org and this comes from .com. It worked for me.

Oh, the installed version in About shows Firefox/2.0.0.15 even though it claims v3
