  • Bashplate

I'm off to get a custom bashplate tomorrow if the price aint too steep.
The toyota ones are a bit flimsy and rads and sumps etc are a bit fragile.
I'll post pics if my hunt is successful.

What kind of thickness do I need? I was thinking 4mm steel or 8mm ally plate.

Mine is 4mm stainless. Spanner Dave dropped the truck off a 2ft high drop onto it and it barely scratched it.

Accidentally. The drop off was at the bottom of a 45 degree slope and hidden by long grass. We came down with quite a thump but nothing any worse for wear.

            Good tough bashplate

              Bloke quoted me £165!

I have a contact nearby who might help me out for less than half of that. (I hope)

I could make it half an hour at work if the beggars would let me carry it out the door!

maybe you can make it in small peices that fit in your pocket and then assemble it at home, you know like IKEA.

                      mmmmm..........NOT.

I did that with my waffle board carrier, but it's not going to be taking direct hits from nasty rocks.

I take it they aren't the most helpful of places then? Wouldn't they let you do it there if you reimbursed them for the cost of any materials used?
