  • New Airbus A340-600 Crashed!

    Now THIS is incredible.

A WRECKED A340-600 at TOULOUSE, FRANCE.

These are pictures of the wreck of a brand new A340-600, in November
2007, that had never flown. Brand spanking new right out of the hanger,
without a single hour of air time.

    Enter the Arab flight crew.

Thank the French and their Arab friends for this 'comedy of errors'.

Nine employees of the Arab airline were in the aircraft, but not one
employee from French Airbus was present. The Arabs taxied out to the
run-up area. Then they took all four engines to takeoff power with
    virtually an empty aircraft.

This was their first mistake as they obviously didn't read the run-up
manuals. They had no clue just how light an empty air bus really is.

No chocks were set under the wheels, not that it would have mattered at
    that power setting.
The brakes will not hold it back at full power anyway. As
it turns out, the takeoff warning horn was blaring away in the cockpit
because they had all 4 engines at full power.
The aircraft computers thought they were trying to takeoff but it had not been configured properly (flaps/slats,etc, etc).

Then one of these brain surgeons decided to pull the 'Ground
Sense' circuit breaker to silence the alarms. This fools the aircraft
into thinking it is in the air.

That was their last mistake. As soon as they did that, the computers
automatically released all the brakes and set the aircraft rocketing
    forward.
They had no idea that this is a Safety feature so that
pilots can't land with the brakes on. There was no time to stop and no
one smart enough to throttle back the engines from their max power
    setting.

So the rest is as you see it below.

Note: No one is talking and it didn't make the main stream News
Papers so who knows if there were survivors.

    Here are the pics :-

      Hooray for casual racism!

The plane was being tested by Airbus, there were some people from another company on board, but they were not a flight crew and didn't work for Etihad. Having been on Etihad, I can also say it's unlikely that the flight crew would have been from Abu Dhabi anyway. They all seemed to be English or Australian.

The investigation isn't over yet. No-one died. It was in the papers. The engines were on idle when it hit the wall.

This is just misinformation with added racism.

            Wise up for fecks sake!

It's crap like this that is probably why we are in the state we are in today!

There is NOTHING remotely rascist in this!

I was actually copied from another forum!

If you intend flaming a thread I'm sure there are plenty others worthy of your nonsense!

The engines idling did this damage?

            I don't think so!

That's not flaming. Flaming would an unjustified attack on the person posting the thread. All I did was point out that almost everything quoted in that story (which is obviously copied from somewhere else) is incorrect.

I did also criticise it for being racist. That's because the whole flavour of it is 'look how stupid Arabs are'. I suppose there is an argument that I'm imposing my own prejudices on a story, then announcing it racist, but replace the word 'Arab' with black or Irish and see if it sounds neutral to you. The fact that they are Arabs (although they weren't because they weren't flying it) is totally irrelevant, so why mention it?

As far as I am aware, we are not 'in a state' today. We are experiencing mild economic problems, but I am sure that's not linked to people on the internet telling others that what they've posted on a forum is incorrect and could be considered offensive.

I would suggest you call the BEA (French air crash investigators) and explain to them that, despite what they think and despite the flight recorder information, the engines were not in fact idling when it hit the wall, because you know, because you've seen a picture.

And what am I suppose to wise up about? You're the one who blindly believed something that you read on the internet.

At ground idle, I very much doubt the aircraft would begin to move. They generally need a healthy dose of power to start rolling, then return to idle to maintain.

Whatever you, or the AIB think, it was moving at reasonable speed. I'd hazard a guess at higher speed than just ground idle would impart.

More importantly, from what I have found looking around, it was on a conveyor belt shortly before the accident and was being piloted by someone called Dieselboy.

Common opinion is that it was taxiing out of the test pen and one of the pilots thought he'd hoon it out of there at about 30 knots and got it a bit wrong.

That sounds more like it. All that weight travelling at 30kts would do a lot of damage.

                          What a muppet!
