Exhaust and MOT

Well got the exhaust fitted and went back to MOT station, no charge for re test and a pass Only thing now is because the exhaust aint got no holes I can see the dreaded black smoke Besides the EGR. what could cause black smoke?
I havent as yet done the EGR mod.

A new fuel filter and a hefty dose of redex to clean the injectors will help too
