Say what you like, it really makes no difference to your premiums. It also doesn't affect what they pay you if it's written off as it will be assessed by a loss adjuster at the time.

Like Slugsie mentioned, I don't think it makes a jot of difference what you tell them.

Hi Paul i beg to differ i have just renewed my Traders Policy and and i dropped my "INDEMNITY" from £12,500 down to £7,500 and saved £310. I asked them if anything happen to my Landcruiser would they pay me the £12,500 i originally had it insured for and they said no (bearing in mind i have had the Landcruiser 11 years).

And yes put my name down for the BBQ.

That must be something to do with the fact it's a traders policy.

You can use any of the on-line insurance quote tools to check, just get two different quotes, with the only difference being the value of the vehicle (keep them within sensible bounds). When I've checked in the past it hasn't made any difference.

My policy always says 'Current market value' when I renew, which is a bit worrying considering what I originally paid and the todays current value.

Dealers Prices have come down due to some Scare mongering on car tax.

They should be able to get the vehicle detials off the DVLA if you give them registration number. Although this may not work some insurance companies. Was with Norwich Union a couple of years back, and got into a lengthy discussion with the man in bombay call centre as to what a surf was. I even offered to send him a picture to help him. (he didn't see the funny side)
