  • A very, very bad night

Well, drove to work last night at a nice steady pace, no rush, just pulling into works private road with one car in front and one in-between us but in the next lane, when all of a sudden the car in front realised he was in the wrong lane and cut across two lanes in front of the car next to me, who the swerved to miss him and pulled in front of me and slamming his anchors on at the same time, well with 2tonne up his arse he did not stand a chance, and the other car buggered off.

exchanged details and all was well, until I got home next morning to look for the insurance documents, Hmmmm, could only find the one that expired last month, so i rang them up and they said, sorry you are not insured, so I asked, did you receive the renewal form i returned, no they said so I replied but I have proof of posting, and they said that is not proof of delivery!!!!!
    Bugg4r.

Anyway because I was honest and told them I had had a smash and obviously was not insured thanks to them, so they added 6 points to my insurance, making it £700.49p, Thanks

The guy I hit wants £1200 for the repair to his car and he won't go through the insurance and therefore the police.

So that’s £1900.49p so far today and I still haven't got my surf sorted, its MOT runs out on the 19th and I need it sorting for then as we go on holiday on the 19th. But apart from that I haven’t slept today at all and I’m at work tonight, oh joy.

Whats the other guy hiding if he doesn't want to involve the police or his insurance?????????

Call the cops, tell them what happend, (You have a witness remember!) give them the other guy's details and they'll do the rest.
Explain your predicament with your insurance, re-new you policy with someone else and find a big hammer and straighten out your dents.

Been around to se the guy, he has insurance, tax and a driving licence, its me who does not want the insurance or police involved, as i have been driving for 3 weeks without insurance. his insurance company would contact the police as a matter of course, as im not insured and that would cost me 6 points and the cost of his car + there charges, probably looking at £3k

                  a thought.....

bad luck mate, thats a cr*p situ
Now clearly I'm not one to advocate such ways of doing things but I have had a friend in the past who had an accident in an uninsured car and promptly went home, insured it and a few hours later phoned to report the accident with a phone call along the lines of 'You won't believe this but...' His policy came into effect the moment he took it out. Others have a days delay.

Obviously I'm mentioning this as an example of what you absolutely shouldn't do. Ahem.

It really was a friend too!

Yes i did think of that, but he had already contacted a claims asseser through his insurance and he advised him it would be a long proccess through the courts and that he could bypass all that because i was willing to sort things out without insurance brokers, so the insurance company were happy cuz they didn't have to do anything and he was happy because his car is in the garage as we speak. and i don't get 6 points

Public highway, leading to a private road, i was on the dedicated lane into the plant and so was the plant who wanted to go around the island cutting up the bloke i hit when he swerved to avoid him.
