I've got mine under my stereo, where the black cubby hole used to be, the mic is mounted on the lower centre console, my external speaker is where I took the ashtray out.
I did the install this way so if I ever want to put it back to standard I don't have too many holes in my dash, just the mic mount ones.
I mounted a springer via a wee clamp on the rear shutline of bonnet and ran the cable through inner wing and through the power ariel grommet.
My trucks wiring was unmolested and the install was a doddle, I just crimped on a spade to live feed and plugged it straight into the existing yellow live feed under dash which has a double spade connector and one is spare, the earth went in via self tapping taptite screw into an existing hole in the dash frame.

                  I'll post a pic tomorrow.
                  Alan

Heres a very tidy install ito the ashtray slot, my unit was small enough to do this but I wanted the speaker in the dash as well so it had to go in the ashtray slot with the CB above

Thats looks tidy, might have to think about that. Is the cb a standard size or an extra small one?

most units are pretty small now, ask Tobyjug to sort you out, give hima size and see if his mate can help.
where will you fit the external speaker, assuming you are having one?

Yeah most of the newer CB's are small enough to fit in there I think...
                          just had a look......
as a matter of fact u have given me an idea now...

I have my 2mtr amateur rig fitted like this:

And I had a massive rig for 10mtr and CB but took it out as it was so big (no holes)
But now I just got the light gonna buy another CB of Jan soon and build it in the ashtray I don't smoke anyway...

                          Thanks for the Idea Alan....
One day at the time I guess..
